Jason and Christi A - an interfaith Farmhouse wedding in rural Ohio

The first thing I noticed about Jason and Christi was how deeply devoted each of them is to their faith. He was raised in a strongly Jewish household, and she was raised in a strongly Christian one.

When they met, two things were clear: they were smitten with one another, and they each wanted to make sure the other wanted to put Faith front and center in any life they might build together.

Oh…and they met in HAWAII, where they were stationed for work.

Both Jason and Christi serve in the United States Armed Forces, and due to deployments and relocations, they actually hadn’t spent all that much time together since they got engaged. You wouldn’t have known it, though. I’ve never met a couple so in-sync. They seemed to know what the other was thinking even before it was said. These two honestly hardly took their eyes off each other. That made Jason’s first look at Christi dressed as his bride all that much sweeter.

Jason and Christi wanted to make sure the Jewish elements of their ceremony were as traditional as could be. Jason even gave a short speech about that week’s Torah portion before they both signed their beautiful ketubah.

Christi was the third and final daughter of her family to throw a wedding at her parents’ farmhouse right on Ohio’s western border. A chuppah with waving corn stalks as a backdrop was a first for me, and it was absolutely stunning.

Perhaps the coolest part of the day for me was getting the chance to co-officiate with Pastor Cody from New Albany! Pastor Cody and his wife have been close friends of Christi’s for many years. It was an honor to be included in this special day where every single guest and participant was chosen so carefully by bride and groom.

As a perfect end to the perfect day, a stunning double rainbow followed me all the way back to Columbus.

Mazal Tov!
