Chelsea and Max E
These two are ride-or-dies.
Yes, that was the theme of their wedding talk (more on that later.)
When these two first approached me, they were looking for an interfaith wedding rabbi who would help them learn about the Jewish wedding ceremony, and plan one of their own. They planned a beautiful interfaith wedding at The Joseph in Columbus, Ohio.
Mrs. E is an educator, and she is one of those people who feels best when she learns all she can about any project she takes on. She was laser-focused on absorbing everything she could during our meetings. Her notes were meticulous. This made her so engaged in every aspect of her ceremony on the big day.
Mr. E made the kiddush cup from a branch in the couple’s backyard. It was such a cool addition. I know their family will treasure it for generations to come.
As for the wedding ceremony? Well, he lives his life by one simple principle - if his bride thinks it’s cool, interesting, or a good idea, he follows her lead. Why? She’s never been wrong. His plan for success is doing what his wife says…not because she’s the boss of him. It’s because her ideas are almost always good ones.
Back to ride-or-dies: As part of my ceremony creation process, I ask my couples to answer a questionnaire to help me learn about their love story. One of the questions is “What is your funniest memory together?” BOTH Mr. and Mrs. E answered, without seeing one another’s answers, “I know what it is, but there is no way I could ever tell you.”
Full trust? Being one another’s vaults for secrets and private moments? A recipe for success.
